Atlanta Families Receive Early Christmas Miracle
Atlanta CEO brings companies together to give away more than $10,000 worth of toys and supplies to hundreds of unsuspecting children in time for the holidays
Who: After 12 years of quietly building one of the most highly-anticipated community-wide holiday events, Atlanta business owner Kamila Brown Washington is hosting her community fan-favorite, “Holiday Toy Kloset”; an annual free event designed to meet the needs of families in need. Brown’s nonprofit, who plays host to the annual gathering aims to help job-seekers find meaningful work and financial stability. That same philanthropic spirit is fueling the mission behind the “Holiday Toy Kloset” to help families dealing with financial instability.
Over 200 families from 13 different counties across Georgia, including Fulton, Clayton, DeKalb and Cobb, are set to participate in the community-wide event with help from organizations like Kroger, United Way, Publics and Toys-for-Tots who are contributing to the total amount of in-kind donations valued at over $10,000. Prominent service organizations like Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are contributing as well.
What: As supply chain issues along with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect how families plan to celebrate Christmas this year, many heads of households will be able to save time, energy and money as nearly 1,000 items including; toys, sporting equipment, grocery supplies and resources will be given freely to awaiting families.
